2.The history

In March 1873, 203 settlers from 65 households, mainly former retainers of the Mizusawa clan in Iwate Prefecture, rented the current location (Tenjinyama Hiragishi) as the planned site for the shrine, and held a festival as a place of worship for Sapporo Shrine.
In January 1902, the worshipers of Soma Ota Shrine, the guardian deity of Soma County, Fukushima Prefecture, transferred the spirit of the gods and dedicated a temporary shrine at 5 Toyohira-cho, Sapporo County. Starting with the first head of the shrine, Kuniyoshi Mitsuhashi, three representatives applied to the Hokkaido government to establish a shrine.
On October 27th, 1909, we were given permission to establish a shrine. On November 27th, 1907, the main shrine was completed and the ceremony was held. In 1916, the shrine moved to its current location, Hiragishi Tenjinyama. In 1928, the main hall was rebuilt, and a ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the main hall. On September 4, 1958, the 50th anniversary celebration was held.
On August 25, 2007, the 100th anniversary commemorative project “Goshaden Renovation Work” was completed. The main shrine relocation ceremony is held.
On June 24, 2008, the 100th anniversary celebration of Soma Shrine and the commemoration ceremony were held. It has been worshiped and revered as the guardian deity of the ever-changing Hiragishi and Sumikawa districts to this day. (Quoted from HP)
