３．The history
Yahiko (Yahiko Iyahiko) Shrine is a Yahiko Shrine in Niigata Prefecture, which has a long history as its head office.
At the end of the Meiji era, volunteers who moved from Niigata Prefecture to Sapporo and devoted themselves to the development of the company built a small shrine as a place of refuge in Nakajima Park.
In 1920, a 60-tsubo shrine was constructed, and in 1970, the spirit of Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning, was enshrined in the shrine from Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine.
Every year before the Sapporo Snow Festival, the “Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine Plum Envoys” visit Hokkaido, and the Shinto priests and shrine maidens of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (Plum Envoys) offer flowers of red and white plum blossoms to this shrine, deeply comforting the spirit of Lord Suga. Festivals (commemorative festivals and flower offering festivals) are held to bring good luck and prosperity to worshipers.
In 1985, in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the enshrinement of the shrine, warm-hearted donations were received from parishioners and venerated parishioners. In addition, in 2001, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the enshrinement of the shrine, a mikoshi (portable shrine) was paraded for the first time in 60 years and bravely paraded through the Hosui Susukino area, which is the parishioner’s area.
